Growth & Development Working Group
Building DSA is not just about recruiting as many people as possible, its about turning everyday working-class people into organizers themselves. An organization of organizers, all working towards a better future. To that end the Nashville Growth & Development Working Group is actively engaging and building our members and the public through tabling events, speaking opportunities, and internal phone and text-banking.
Legislative and Electoral Working Group (LEWG)
The age of sewer socialists and socialist representatives in congress has returned. The Nashville Legislative and Electoral Working Group participates in council watching and agitation, compiles resources like voter guides to help socialists evaluate how well candidates align with Middle Tennessee DSA’s political priorities, and mobilize volunteers for supportive efforts.
Mutual Aid Working Group (MAWG)
Mutual aid is not charity, rather, it’s a participatory process where communities support themselves through directly providing necessary resources and other forms of aid such as skill sharing and community. MAWG practices mutual aid by serving Nashville’s unhoused community in weekly supply distros in East Nashville and Antioch, holds public events to benefit the community like bench builds to improve Nashville’s inadequate bus stops, and brings the social to socialism by hosting fun events to build solidarity among comrades.
